The World Doesn’t Need Me

I believe life in missions is not about going to another country to serve or preach the gospel but living faithfully with what God has entrusted us to accomplish for His Kingdom.

In the dictionary, mission means an important job, especially a military one, that someone is sent somewhere to do. For example, Your mission is to isolate the enemy by destroying all the bridges across the river. Also, it can be any work someone believes is their duty. Like, My mission in life is to educate the rich about the suffering of the poor. It is also a common thing that you can say when you have finished doing something that you were told to do: Mission accomplished. I’ve got everything you asked for on the list.

In our case, it is to accomplish what God has called us to do. Essentially, it is to love enough while the breath of life is in us. A missionary style of life is expressing God’s love according to His character wherever we are, and expressing His holiness and unending love for humanity. We are to love God with all our hearts and love our neighbor as ourselves. He calls us to connect with the dreams He has placed in our hearts and fight to see them realized. Care for the poor, the widow, and the most vulnerable. Make disciples.
Life with a mission is knowing God deeply and making Him known to the ends of the world. It’s a never-ending training through the body of Christ to reach out to our closest sphere of influence.
Since I arrived at YWAM, I’ve been able to experience this key part of the mission, which is to be trained. People deserve the best, and we can pour out our best to others if we let ourselves be washed by the Gospel to carry the most wonderful news to the world with the power of the Holy Spirit, with signs and wonders. The goal is to truly be transformed by the Word of God to impart this to others. The world doesn’t need us, it needs Jesus in us.
Pursuing this I can testify that it’s the most amazing, adventurous, beautiful life that we can experience. With God, we become who we truly are. He created us uniquely to show His glory.

Following Jesus and His leadership is sometimes seen as “politically incorrect,” but is extravagant, bold, and always gets you out of your comfort zone. It’s wild, sometimes silent and sometimes more noisy, but one thing that never fails is that he pushes us to a lifestyle that doesn’t negotiate love. To know love and truly understand how it looks, we have to know God. Love is not only a tap on the shoulder or a demonstration of acceptance, but being able to speak truth in love. We love because He loved us first.
