God´s Favorite Plan

The Alatou Campus's heart  is to reach the leftovers of PNG

A few weeks ago, we had the privilege to have Julie Nanege,  director of Alatou Campus, Papua New Guinea, in UofN Kona. She is an exciting and full-of-life woman.  But what characterizes her the best, is her determination and the courage to dream big, willing to do any sacrifice to bring heaven to her Nation.

The first time Julie heard about YWAM, she was 19 years old.  Immediately she wanted to be part of it, but it was when she was reaching her 22 years old when God called her to be a missionary. So she filled up her application and moved to MT Hagen (Papa New Guinea) to do her DTS. Joined the DTS staff and led her first outreach to India. In 2010 worked in another DTS and did the Biblical Core Course  School. This was so challenging and fun for her.  So much purpose for all the people around her and she was grounding her life in the truth. She started to work with the evangelism team,  staffed the bible school in 2012, and went again to Bangalore India, a nation that gripped her heart until today.

When she was there, God told her to go back to PNG, because he was going to give her a husband, and a new work, and needed her to train and mobilize young people to send them to disciple the nations.

When she came back to PNG, she met a guy who had Jesus burning inside, and after one month, they got married. “He got married to a woman that doesn't sit in the house but that wants to focus and do ministry”… says Julie. They started to work for YWAM as a couple, getting to know the organization more deeply for 3 years, and adjusting their life as a family. They also got married to God's vision and dream for the University of the Nations in Alatou.

In 2017 the Alatou Campus finally gave birth, running different seminars and outreaches coming in and out of the Campus. During this process, God guided Julie to build up a Children's Ministry, and a playschool, even though she is not a teacher, and didn´t have proper studies, when the school"Educating for Life" went running a Seminar there, God really challenged her, and gave her the confidence to step forward. So she started by faith in this play school, with what she had on her hands, and today there are already 35 children attending every day. Julie is waiting on the Lord that he will provide more teachers and the finances that are required to reach more kids and give them the best education from their first beginnings.

But God´s heart is even bigger. He wants the Alatou Campus in YWAM to run´s lots of programs and offer different degrees, where young people from the streets, from the settlement, who are reckless, hanging out with prostitutes, doing all kinds of the worse stuff, completely hopeless, see this University like an opportunity to fulfill their dreams, know God, and make him known, reach their deepest goals, be able to get out of the streets to rescue others. God has his heart on the leftovers of PNG, and that's where Julie has the calling to invest.

She has the conviction that they will find hope in YWAM, and their faith will be strengthened, and will bless PNG and other Nations.
